If you are looking for a way to kick back during your Memorial Day Weekend, here is a great lunchtime idea. Enjoy freshly prepared sweet or savory crepes, hot tamales, and/or yummy omelettes as you soak in some sun and live music at this amphitheater right by the Courthouse in West LA.
There are also pony rides!

Be sure to come earlier to buy fresh strawberries (the best!) and choose from an abundance of baked breads, yummy treats, fruits, and veggies at this intimate neighborhood farmer’s market. ~ Thursday, July 27: Los Angeles, CA

WESTWOOD Farmer’s Market
Vet's Garden at the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Grounds
(310) 861-8188
5:00pm – 6:00pm

For DIRECTIONS, visit this link.

The WESTWOOD Farmer’s Market is a brand new adventure. . .just having started up a few weeks ago – it is replacing the market that used to be in Westwood Village (right by UCLA). I went to visit the new site and market last Thursday and I think that you should definitely consider making it a part of your Thursday routine if you are in the Westwood/Brentwood/West LA area. One drawback, in my opinion, is that you cannot easily walk there. However, once you get there, there is plenty of FREE parking right by the market.

As for the PROS, there are lots of vendors – over 30 – that provide veggies and the usual fare you might find, as well as gourmet hard-to-find treats. Not having the gourmet budget myself these days, I brought home some fresh asparagus. . .really thin and fresh and packed with flavor . . . Not like those super thick stalks you find so often in the grocery stores. The market itself runs from 1:00pm – 7:00pm.

Tucked away in the back of the market, there is a beautiful GARDEN area filled with greenery where you can grab a seat at one of the checker cloth-covered picnic tables under the SHADE of trees and eat some tamales or other treats to the tune of LIVE MUSIC.

That’s the scoop. So come this Thursday to check out the fresh goods offered by local farmers and catch me performing a solo set from 5:00pm to 6:00pm!
