I’ll be performing a tune or two as part of a smorgasbord of songwriters at
this cool piano bar. While I’ll most likely be on sometime during the

sponsors. We’ll also be graced with the presence of a few guest speakers
from non-profit organizations being featured to raise awareness for 2006.

Appearing at Johnny D's for the first time, Manisha celebrates the release of Shabash! the
hip guide to all things South Asian in North America, version 2.0, published by Los
Angeles-based ArtWallah. Accompanied by
Jerry Leake (tabla/multi-percussion) and Blake Newman (upright bass), Manisha
(vocals/piano/guitar) will perform two sets of music, featuring both unrecorded material and
songs from her album, Peace in Progress. Special guests include
Prasanna on guitar and Lance Martin
on flute! Plus, spinning between sets and at the after-party will be DJ Sharaabi Kapoor's Dance
Hangama, brought to you by Br. Cleve.
Manisha authored the Boston section of this 260-page collection of cityscapes and social
commentaries that will open doors to new faces and places with an eye on the music scene, new
voices in literature, emerging filmmakers, the realities of religion and politics, the tastiest
eateries, the most progressive art and theatre, and the freshest nightlife in LA, NY, SF, DC,
Toronto, Atlanta, Boston and Chicago. The book started selling at the LA Times Festival of
Books in late April and release parties are being held in the various cities. Visit

festival performances include Cathy Jenson-Hole (Perth, Australia), Carol Daggs (Saratoga

The guest artist for the festival is drummer, composer, and arranger Allison Miller (NYC)
(photo right). Allison has performed and recorded with Natalie Merchant, Kenny Barron, Norah
Jones, and Sheila Jordan. We are so excited she is joining us! She will offer clinics on campus
on Thursday morning, May 5th.
Two of my songs will be featured: “Where the Ocean Greets the Sky” and “Something in Your
Voice”. I’ve arranged the latter especially for this festival, so come check it out!

SKIN, created to counter Asian Pacific American stereotypes, is an annual fashion show held at
Brandeis University as part of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM). This year, the
program will be showcasing designs by Shin Choi, Twinkle by Wenlan Chia, Colleen Quen, Baby
Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons, and jewelry from TokenStyle by Julia and Karen Wang. The event will
also include performances by Chris Vu, others, and me, as well as artwork by local artist Sam
Tan.

This will be the second of two benefits in which I am participating to raise funds for Asian
and African survivors of the Indian Ocean Tsunami.

will also go to the fund.
